Full-Time & Part-Time/Bank Carers Vacancies
We’re expanding! Like the tree in our logo, Shalamar is spreading out and growing new branches – we have a new home to open very shortly!
As such, we have several vacancies for all types of carer position – both full-time and bank – across our homes.
The ideal candidate for any of these positions would be someone who has a strong sense of empathy and good self-control. The job will include working with teenagers who struggle to manage their own emotions, but also day-to-day household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, ironing, etc.
We have very few requirements:
- Within 2 years of starting in the industry, anyone working in a children’s home must have completed a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if they haven’t already. This is a national requirement which we will help you to achieve
- Full-timers must be able to drive manual cars (and be at least 23 for the insurance). This is also preferred for bank staff but not entirely necessary
- Decent literacy skills for writing up logs & documentation by hand
- Happy to sleep in one of the dedicated staff bedrooms overnight when required (for which a lump-sum is paid each time)

| £10.29-£10.55p/h | £10.62 – £11.02p/h |
| No set minimum hours | 37-40 hours per week average |
| Most bank shifts will not need sleep-ins | Sleep-ins with all shifts (only some shifts for Floating) |
The two PDFs above show full details pertaining to these two role types – of which there are a few subdivisions:
- Bank is on a 2-tier system – those with the necessary qualification and those without
- Shift-leader is the more senior of each day’s care team. They are also expected to be available as on-call backup on certain weekends when scheduled
- Full-timers work under their shift-leader on the same regular schedule to present a familiar and strongly functioning care force to our young people
- Floating full-timers are contracted on a full-time basis but are given whichever shifts need them rather than a regular rotation in the one home
If you are at all interested in helping these young people, please do get in touch with us. It’s a rewarding experience and we are happy to consider anyone.
